Skunk attack, Hotel Kachina, Taos Pueblo

Well it didn't go so well last night.  At about 11pm out in the parking lot of the Hotel Kachina I heard two dogs fighting.  15 minutes later the smell of skunk entered my room.   In the morning I saw what happened.  Behind my truck was a skunk with his insides on the outside. There was blood on my truck and my Ducati.  The clerk at the hotel desk got into a wordsfight with the janitor who said it wasn't his problem.  I washed the truck but it still smells inside.  The skunk was still there when I left two hours later. No pictures of that.  I figured no one would want see skunk guts.
Down the hall to the Kachina Inn Cafe.  Biscuits and gravy day one and Spanish Omelette day two.
Taos Pueblo blue doors.  I intentionally included alot of sky.
This dog laid here for 2-3 hours and never moved. He's not dead.

I shot the camera out level so too much foreground is there. I'll crop that off.  I shot it out level so as not to distort the building.

Camels and Mirages Pueblo Taos

I spent 4 hours shooting up a storm at Pueblo Taos today. I pretty much had the place to myself until a tour bus arrived at about 4pm.
This is Great Sand Dunes.  This photo is from my big camera. Everywhere I turned was a new photo and as the sun set it start all over, everything was new.  What an odd atmosphere.  I could have been in the Sahara desert or Egypt I wouldn't know the difference...except for the camels and mirages I suppose.

Drama in the Dunes

I hiked to the top of the highest sand dune in N.America and ate my turkey/cheese sandwich and surrounded a Beck's. I shot photos for hours until the sun set. But then I got lost. I was four rows of dunes in and when I tried to walk out I went over 8 rows of dunes. By that point it was really dark and I couldn't find the spot I was supposed to cross the stream.

I was 'rescued' by a young couple. They had a GPS and they found the parking lot for me. They said they were getting married tomorrow. I got an email from them just now with my picture on top of a sand dune.

Arcade Games in Manitou Springs

Shot some photos at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs

Eat a manly pile of Louisiana Gumbo at Doodad's Louisiana Cafe in Manitou Springs Co.

There is a restored 1950's (?) pin ball and skeeball arcade in Manitou Springs Co. I came back at night and took photos with my D800. I watched Kansas City beat NY Mets in game 4 of the World series at a local pub.

Indianapolis Raceway

Honestly I didn't know I was video taping myself, I thought I was taking a humorous still photo for Bob Madge who birthday it is today. I sent this video to his Facebook page regardless.

YouTube Video

That is the Indianapolis 500 Racetrack behind my truck. It's 2.5 miles around. They can average 230MPH around the whole thing. That's awfully fast.

That's a Gurney Eagle and Dan Gurneys suit. He took second that year I think. Indy Speedway Museum. $8. No restaurant just a huge gift shop.

Rust in Peace, Zaneville Ohio, Indianapolis IN

This is Doug and Queenie of Rust in Peace Antique Shop in Zanesville Ohio. He has signed photos by Johnny Cash and Burt Reynolds and is an expert on WWF style of wrestling. We talked for pretty near 45 minutes and he gave me a Rust in Peace tee shirt and sold me some Vintage Keywest postcards.

I was in 5 states today. Pa, W.Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. I stopped at Cabela's in West Virginia and the Harley dealer. Bought a large nylon stretch net to hold stuff down to the Ducati and a cable to lock it to my truck at night. Had a huge roast beef sandwich, root beer and potato salad at the Cabela diner.
